The length and breadth of a rectangular courtyard is 45 m and 35 m respectively. Find the distance covered by a boy to take 10 rounds of the courtyard.

Given,
Length of the courtyard = 45 m
Breadth of the courtyard = 35 m

Courtyard is in the shape of rectangle.
We know that perimeter of a rectangle = 2 x (length + breadth)
Therefore, perimeter of the courtyard
= 2 (45 + 35) m
= 2 × 80 m
= 160 m [1 mark]

Distance covered by the boy in taking 5 rounds of the courtyard
= 10 × perimeter of courtyard
= 10 × 160
= 1600 m [1 mark]
