Question

The length and breadth of three rectangles are as given below: (a)9mand6m(b)17mand3m(c)4mand14m . Which one has the largest area and which one has the smallest?

Open in App
Solution

Step 1: Calculate area of rectangle with dimensions 9mand6m

Here, Length=9m and Breadth =6m

As, Area of rectangle =lengthxbreadth

=9×6

=54m2

Step 2: Calculate area of rectangle with dimensions 17mand3m

Here, Length =17m and Breadth =3m

So, Area of rectangle =17×3

=51m2

Step 3: Calculate area of rectangle with dimensions 4mand14m

Here, Length=4m and Breadth =14m

Area of rectangle=4×14

=56m2

Since, 51<54<56

Hence, Area of rectangle ( c ) is the largest area and (b) is the smallest.
