Given: $l:b=5:3$

$\Rightarrow \frac{l}{b}=\frac{5}{3}$

$\Rightarrow l=\frac{5b}{3}$

Perimeter of a rectangle$=2(l+b)$

$\Rightarrow 2(\frac{5b}{3}+b)=24$

$\Rightarrow \frac{8b}{3}=12$

$\Rightarrow b=\frac{36}{8}=4.5$cms

And $l=\frac{5\times 4.5}{3}=7.5$cms

Hence $l=7.5$cms and $b=4.5$cms
