The length of a brass rod at 0C is 10m. Find its length at 100C if α of brass is 18×106 C1.

The equation for linear expansion is given as:
ΔL=αL1ΔT
Where α is the coefficient of linear expansion =18×106 C1
L1 is initial length = 10 m
ΔL is the change in length
& ΔT is the change in temperature =100 C or 100k
Therefore, L2=ΔL+L1
=L1(1+αΔT)
On putting the values,
L2=10.018 m
