Length of the rectangle =16 cm

Let its breadth be x cm

$\therefore$ Perimeter =2(16+x)=32+2x

Also perimeter =4(12.5)=50 cm.

According to statement,

$\therefore 32+2x=50$

$\Rightarrow 2x=50-32=18$

$\Rightarrow x=9$

$\therefore$ Breadth of the rectangle =9 cm.

$\therefore$ Area of the rectangle $(l\times b)=16\times 9=144c{m}^2$
