The correct option is B

16 cm2


Let ABCD be the rectangle with AB = 20 cm and CB = 8 cm

Let length be increased by 2 cm,

BF = 2 cm, AF = (20 + 2) cm

Area of original rectangle ABCD = 20×8 cm2

Area of new rectangle AFED = (20+2)×8 cm2

=20×8+2×8

Hence, increase in area is 2×8=16 cm2
