The length of a rectangle is twice its width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 42 m, then find the area of the rectangle.
Let the breadth of rectangle be x m.
Length = 2x m
Perimeter = 2 (length + breadth)
Perimeter = 2(x + 2x) = 42 m
⇒ 6x=42 m
⇒ 3x = 21 m
On solving, we get
x = 7 m
Breadth = 7 m
Length = 14 m
Area = length × breadth
= 14×7
Area = 98 m2
