The length of a rectangular field is twice its breadth. Jamal jogged around it four times and covered a distance of 6 km. What is the length of the field?

Answer 1

The Breadth of rectangular field = x m

Then, length of rectangular field = 2x m

$\because$ Distance covered in one round = Perimeter

$\therefore$ Distance covered in four rounds = 4 $\times$Perimeter

$\Rightarrow 4\times 2$(l + b)= 6 km [ $\because$ perimeter = 2(length + breadth)]

$\Rightarrow 8\times (l+b)$ = 6000 m [ $\because$ 1 km = 1000m]

$\Rightarrow$ 8(2x + x) = 6000 m $\Rightarrow 8\times 3x=6000m$

$\Rightarrow$ 24x = 6000m

$\Rightarrow \frac{24x}{24}=\frac{6000}{24}$

$\Rightarrow$ x = 250 m [dividing both sides by 24]

$\therefore$ Length of the field = 2x=2 $\times$ 250 = 500 m
Breadth of the field= 250 m
