The length of the pendulum, l=1m

When the bob is horizontal, the height reached, h=l

Using conservation of energy,

Energy at the lowest point = Energy at horizontal point

12mv2L=mgh+12mv2h

v2L=2gl+v2h

v2h=v2L2gl

Using equation of motion,

v2=u22gs

0=v2h2gs

s=v2L2gl2g=722×10×12×10=1.5m

Therefore, the maximum vertical height =h+s=1+1.5=2.5m
