Question

The length of one side of a right angled triangle is 4.5 cm and the length of its hypotenuse is 7.5 cm find the length of its third side

Open in App
Solution

According to Pythagoras Theorem, in a right angled triangle ABC,
(AB)²+ (BC)² = (AC)²,
where AB and BC are the the two sides of the triangle and AC is the hypotenuse.
So here,
AB = 4.5cm and
AC = 7.5cm
Therefore,
(4.5)² + (BC)² = (7.5)²
(BC)² = (7.5)² - (4.5)²
(BC)² = 56.25 - 20.25
(BC)² = 36
BC= 6
Hence, the length of its third side is 6cm.
