Let the radius of the globe be r.

The length of the equator of the globe means the circumference of the globe.

Circumference of the globe.=44cm

2πr=442×227×r=44r=44×744r=7cm

The surface area of the globe is computed as,

Surface area =4πr2

=4×227×72π=227=4×22×7=616cm2

Hence, the surface area is 616cm2.
