Solution

Let the breadth of the rectangle be x cm.
Then its length is x+4 cm.
According to the problem,
2{x+x+4}=36
or, 2x+4=18
or, x=7.
So breadth of the rectangle is 7 cm and length is 11 cm.
So the area of the rectangle is 7×11=77 cm 2.
