Then its length is $x+4$ cm.

According to the problem,

$2\{x+x+4\}=36$

or, $2x+4=18$

or, $x=7$.

So breadth of the rectangle is $7$ cm and length is $11$ cm.

So the area of the rectangle is $7\times 11=77$ cm ${}^2$.
