Question

The length of the two diagonals of a rhombus are 6cm and 8cm respectively, what is the length of its side.

Open in App
Solution

Let ABCD be rhombus where AC=6cm and BD=8cm
We know that diagonals of rhombus bisect each other at right angles.

Hence, AO=OC=3cm and BO=OD=4cm

Therefore, by Pythagoras theorem in right ΔAOD, we get,

AD=AO2+DO2

AD=32+42

AD=5cm

As all sides of rhombus are equal, hence, side os rhombus is 5cm.
