Speed of light $=3\times {10}^{8}m/sec$

Time taken by light to reach the sun $=8minutes=8\times 60secs=480secs$

$Dis\tan ce=Speed\times Time$

$Dis\tan ce=3\times {10}^8\times 480=1440\times {10}^8$

$Dis\tan ce=1.44\times {10}^3\times {10}^8=1.44\times {10}^{11}metres$

Hence, the distance of the Sun from the Earth is $1.44\times {10}^{11}metres$.
