Open in App
Solution

4x + 3y = 9

3y = -4x + 9

y = fraction numerator negative 4 over denominator 3 end fraction x + 3

Slope of this line = fraction numerator negative 4 over denominator 3 end fraction

px - 6y + 3 = 0

6y = px + 3

y = p over 6 x plus 1 half

Slope of this line = p over 6

Since, the lines are parallel, their slopes will be equal.

fraction numerator negative 4 over denominator 3 end fraction equals p over 6 minus 4 equals p over 2 p equals negative 8
