The lines XY and MN intersect each other at point O as shown in the figure. If POY=90 and a:b=2:3, then find the value of c in degrees.

The correct option is A 126
Given: POY=90
a:b=2:3

From the figure,
XOP and POY form a linear pair of angles.
a+b+POY=180
a+b+90=180
a+b=90

Now, a:b = 2:3 (Given)
Let a and b be 2x and 3x.
2x+3x=90
5x=90
x=18
Hence, a=2×18=36

MOY=a+POY
MOY=36+90=126
MOY=c ( both are vertically opposite angles)
c=126°

Alternative Method

b=3×18=54
MOX and XON form a linear pair of angles.
b+c=180
c=18054=126
