The local administration built a shelter for local deer. The shelter was divide into 10 stalls. 100 deer were initially brought in, and distributed evenly into all 10 stalls. Now, the shelter plans to expand its number of stalls so there will be total of 17 stalls, all of the same size. How many more deer will the shelter be able to house?

Initial number of deer = 100
Initial number of stalls = 10
Number of deer in each stall =100÷10
10×10=100100÷10=10

Total number of stalls after expansion = 17
Number of new stalls = Total number of stalls after expansion - Initial number of stalls
= 17 - 10 = 7
Number of deer in new stall = total number of stalls after expansion × number of deer in each stall
= 7 × 10
= 70
After expansion, 70 more deer can be sheltered.
