The magnet can be completely demagnetized by reversing field of appropriate strength. This uses a magnetic field generated by a current flowing through solenoid to change the ordering of magnetic dipole. An AC current is used to produce magnetic field of changing direction near magnet. The electromagnetic field caused the magnetic dipoles to switch direction many times. By repeating this process many times as we gradually go to reduce strength of magnetic field, the magnetism of the magnet can be reduced to almost zero -- demagnetized.
