When an object is placed between one of the two principal focii and the optic centre of a convex lens, a virtual, erect and enlarged image is formed on the same side of the lens.
Since the image is erect, the object and the image would be in the same orientation, i.e. upward the principal axis.
The height of the image and the object are measured upward the principal axis. So, they both are positive.
Magnification of a lens is the ratio of the height of the image to that of the object.
Therefore, the magnification in this case would be positive.
