The reaction goes through electrophilic aromatic substitution. Carbonyl deactivates the ring attached with it directly for bromination.
So, the bromination takes place preferably at the p-position to the ring attached with alkyl group and leads to formation of major product. The attack at the o-position is sterically hindered.
