We construct the following table taking assumed mean a = 55 (step deviation method).


Class xi fi c.f. ui=Xia10 fiui

The mean =a+fiuifi×c

=55+5660×10=55+566=64.333

Here n=60n2=30, therefore, 60-70 is the median class

Using the formula, M=l+n2Cf×c
=60+302012×10

=60+1002=60+8.333=68.333

Using Empirical formula, we have,
