The marks (out of 100) obtained by a group of students in a Mathematics test are 85,76,90,85,39,48,56,95,81,and 75. Find the

highest and lowest marks obtained by the students,range of the marks obtained and mean marks obtained by the group.

Solution

Step 1:Finding the highest and lowest marks obtained by the student

The given observations are 85,76,90,85,39,48,56,95,81, and 75

Thus we get the highest marks=95

and lowest marks=39

Hence obtained the highest marks=95 and lowest marks=39

Step 2:Finding the range of the marks obtained.

Range=Highest marks - lowest marks

=95-39

=56

Hence obtained Range=56

Step 3:Finding the Mean marks obtained by the group

Mean=sumofobservationsno.ofobservation

Number of observation =10

Thus Mean =85+76+90+85+39+48+56+95+81+7510

=73010

=73

Hence obtained Mean =73
