Question

The mass of an iron ball is \(312 ~𝑔\). The density of iron is \( 7.8 ~𝑔𝑐𝑚^{−3}\) . Find the volume of the ball.

Open in App
Solution

Given,
Mass of iron ball, 𝑚 = 312 g
density of iron ball, \(d = 7.8 ~𝑔𝑐𝑚^{−3}\)
To find: Volume of iron ball
Using formula of density,

\( \text{Density} (d) = \dfrac{\text{mass}(𝑚)}{\text{volume}(𝑉)}\)

\( 7.8 ~𝑔𝑐𝑚^{−3} =\dfrac{ 312 ~𝑔}{\text{volume}(𝑉)}\)

So, \( \text{Volume}(𝑉) = \dfrac{312 ~𝑔}{ 7.8 ~𝑔𝑐𝑚^{−3}} = 40 ~𝑐𝑚^{3}\)
