Question

The mass of cyclist together with the bike is 90kg. Calculate the increase in kinetic energy if the speed increases from 6.0km/h to 12km/h.

Open in App
Solution

The final velocity is given as,

vf=12×518

=103m/s

The initial velocity is given as,

vi=6×518

=53m/s

The increase in kinetic energy is given as,

ΔKE=12m(vf2vi2)

=12×90((103)2(53)2)

=375J

Thus, the increase in kinetic energy is 375J.
