Solution

Let percentage of pure copper in first piece be x%
Percentage of pure copper in second piece=(x+15)%
Weight of first piece
=10×100x

=1000x

Weight of second piece
=8×100x+15

=800x+15

1000x+800x+15=60

100x+80x+15=6

50x+40x+15=3

50(x+15)+40xx(x+15)=3

=>50x+750+40x=3x(x+15)

=>3x245x750=0

x215x250=0

=>(x25)(x+10)=0

=>x=25,10
But mass can not be negative
Percentage of pure copper in first piece=25%
