The maximum and minimum tensions in the simple pendulum are given by
Tmax=3mg2mgcosθ...(1) (At bottom of the swing)
Tmin=mgcosθ...(2) (At the maximum swing)
Given that Tmax=2Tmin, we can say that
3mg2mgcosθ=2mgcosθ
Solving, we get θ=cos1(3/4)
