The mean and variance of the heights and weights of the students of a class are given below.

For height, we have:

Variance, σ2=116.64cm2SD, σ=116.64cm=10.8 cm

Also, mean height = 160 cm.

CV1=(SDmean×100)%=(10.8160×100)%=4.75%

For weight, we have:

Variance, σ2=17.64 kg2 SD, σ=17.64kg=4.2kg

And, mean weight = 50.4 kg.

CV2=(SDmean×100)%=(4.250.4×100)%=253%=813%

Clearly, (CV in weights) > (CV in heights).

Hence, weights are more variable than heights.
