The mean of $40$ observation was $160$ . it as detected rechecking that value of $165$ was wrongly copied as $125$ for computation of mean. Find the correct mean.

Since,

Mean of $40$ observations $= 160$
$165$ copied as $125$

Removing $125$ adding $165$ to calculate correct mean

correct mean $= \frac{160 \times 40 - 125 + 165}{40}$

$= 161$
