The individual weights of five boys are 51 kg, 45 kg, 49 kg, 46 kg and 44 kg.
Now,
Let the weight of the sixth boy be x kg.
We know:
Mean =Sum of observationsNumber of observations

Also,
Given mean = 48 kg
Thus, we have:

48 = 51+45+49+46+44+x6288 = 235+xx = 53

Therefore, the sixth boy weighs 53 kg.
