Solution

The correct option is C Both 1 and 2
a) The cochlear part of membranous labyrinth contains mechanoreceptors for hearing and is responsible for hearing.
b) A balloon-like membranous sac, present in the bony labyrinth of the inner ear, is suspended in perilymph and is known as the membranous labyrinth. The vestibular part of membranous labyrinth consists of three semicircular canals with their receptors and receives signals from vestibular branch of auditory nerve and helps body to maintain proper spatial position with respect to surrounding objects and gravity. Thus, option B is correct.
d) The larynx is a cartilaginous organ that houses vocal cord and voice box and is responsible for sound production. Thus, option D is incorrect.
Hence, the correct answer is 'Both 1 and 2'.
