The middle point of conductor is earthed and its ends are maintained at a potential difference of 220 V . What is the potential at the two ends and at the mid point??

Solution

The middle point of the conductor is earthed so it's potential is zero.

Suppose potential at lower end be a and potential at higher end be b,then

a-b=220

0-a=b-0

a=-b

a=110V,b=-110V
