Original expenses=350

Increase in expense =500-350=150

Ratio of increase in expenses to original expenses =150:350

Simplified form of 150:350 can be obtained by dividing both terms by their HCF 50.

150:350=150350=1505035050=37

Hence, the ratio of increase in expenses to original expenses is 3:7.
