Let earlier the annual salary of the person was $Rs.x$

After an increase of $5\%$ his salary becomes $Rs.15120$

$\therefore 15120=x+x\times \frac{5}{100}$

$\Rightarrow 15120=x\times \frac{105}{100}$

$\Rightarrow x=14400$

$\therefore$ the monthly salary was $\frac{Rs.14400}{12}=Rs.1200$
