Solution

Step 1: Find the Savings

Given, monthly salary of the person =15,000

Monthly expenditure of the person =12,000

Monthly savings of the persons =15,000-12,000=3,000

Step 2: Find the ratio

Ratio of savings to expenditure= 300012000

Converting this ratio into simplest form, we get

Divide numerator and denominator by the HCF, i.e., 3000

Ratio of savings to expenditure = 3000÷300012000÷3000=14=1:4

Hence, the ratio of savings to expenditure is 1:4.
