Solution

Finding the ratio of saving to salary :

Given,
Monthly salary=Rs. 12,000
Monthly expenditure=Rs. 8,500.
Monthly saving=Monthly salaryMonthly expenditure
=Rs 12000Rs 8500
=Rs 3500
Therefore, the ratio of savings to salary = savings of the person
salary=350012000=35120
Now, above ratio can be converted to its simplest form by dividing numerator and denominator by 5, we get
35÷5120÷5=724=7:24
Therefore, the ratio of savings to salary is 7:24.
