Question

The moon is about 384000 km from the earth and it's path around the earth is nearly circular. Find the circumference of the path described by the moon in one complete revolution about the earth (use π=3.14)

Open in App
Solution

The circumference of a circle, C=2πr where r is the radius of the circle.

Here, r=384000 km

So circumference of the path =2πr=2×3.14×384000=24,11,520 km.

So, the circumference of the path is 24,11,520 km.
