Question

The more negative the packing fraction of an element, the more stable should be the nucleus. If true enter 1 else 0.

Solution

The negative value of the packing fraction indicates that the actual isotopic mass is less the mass number. Thus, some mass has been transformed into energy (binding energy) during formation of nucleus. This leads to the stability of the nucleus. Hence, the more negative the packing fraction of an element, higher is the binding energy and more stable will be the nucleus.
