Solution
The correct option is
B
Bringing haplophase
Meiosis occurs in germ cells which form gametes. Germ cells are diploid cells which undergo meiosis to form haploid cells.
Meiosis leads to independent assortment of maternal and paternal chromosomes, hence, it helps in bringing haplophase.
When male and female gametes fuse, a diploid zygote is formed restoring the chromosome number to that of the species.
Hence, most important role of meiosis is bringing haplophase. So, the correct answer is 'Bringing haplophase'.
