  1. The layer of muscular tissue between the endocardium and epicardium is known as cardiac muscle, or heart muscle.
  2. The cardiac muscle tissue is separated from the blood and other organs by these inner and outer layers of the heart.
  3. Because cardiac muscle has more mitochondria than skeletal muscle, it is resistant to fatigue.
  4. It has up to 35 percent mitochondria, compared to only 1-2 percent in skeletal muscles.
  5. Mitochondria are required for the generation of ATP, which supplies energy to cells.
