Attracts metal.
Gets deflected when a magnet is brought near to it.
Comes to rest in North-South direction.
The needle of a compass attracts other magnets and metals. It comes to rest in the North-South direction. A compass points north because all magnets have two poles: a north pole and a south pole, and the north pole of one magnet is attracted to the south pole(geographical north) of another magnet(Earth's magnet).
