Dear Student
Let us first understand from where this infection spread into the body.
Ascariasis infects human by ingesting the eggs of the A. lumbricoides roundworm. The eggs are present in soil which is contaminated by human feces or uncooked food contaminated by soil.
Children are very prone to this infection because they put their hands in their mouth after playing in contaminated soil. Ascariasis can also be passed directly from person-to-person.
We can avoid this infection by following simple daily rules:
Practice good hygiene. Always wash hands with soap and water before meals. Wash fresh fruits and vegetables thoroughly.
Use care when travelling. Drink only bottled water and avoid eating raw vegetables unless they are peeled and wash properly.
