Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
The forest act established by colonials had a negative impact on the local inhabitants and forest dwellers' lives. The forest act aimed at reserving two third of the forest area. They restricted use of forest products, banned hunting and shift cultivation also restricted entering into forest lands. This forced the local people to live under social, moral and economic stress. The villagers were primarily dependent on the forest products, woods, hunting and shift cultivation. So they were tremendously affected by the restrictions. They were not allowed to move freely through the woods. Many of the locals were forced to work for free under the colonial officials for cutting and transporting woods.
