The change of one or more substances into other substances having different compositions and different properties is called a chemical reaction.
For example -
${Na}_{2} {CO}_{3} (aq .) + 2 HCl (aq .) \to 2 NaCl (aq .) + H_{2} O (l) + {CO}_{2} (g)$
