Question

The no of neutrons in 1.6 g of CH4

Open in App
Solution

1 mole of a substance = Gram Molecular Mass of the substance

therfore, 16 gm CH4 = 1 mole

.'. 1.6 gm CH4 = 0.1 mole

Now,

1 molecule CH4 contain 6 neutrons ( only carbon have neutrons)

1 mole = 6.023×10^23 particles

so 1 mole of CH4 =6×6.023×10^23 neutrons

.'. 0.1 mole of CH4 = 0.1×6×6.023*10^23 neutrons
