Initially, the level of thyroxine in the patient was low as 0.6 ng/dl. After the treatment with the hormone, the level has risen to 3.4 ng/dl. The normal thyroxine level in an adult is around 0.8 ng/dl to 1.8 ng/dl. This increase in the hormone level will result in symptoms which are observed in hyperthyroidism. The condition causes high metabolic rate, protrusion of the eyeballs, high blood pressure, nervous tension, irritability and profuse sweating.
