The nucleus is considered to be the brain of the cell. Give reason.

Nucleus:

  1. Nucleus is a cell organelle present in both animal and plant cells.
  2. It contains the chromatin fibres which are made up of the hereditary material, DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid)
  3. DNA carries the hereditary units, genes, which are passed from parents to their next generation.
  4. Genes contain all the necessary information for a cell.
  5. Nucleus uses all the genetic information to control and co-ordinate all the cellular activities.
  6. This nuclear function of regulation is very similar to the function of the brain which controls the entire body of an animal.
  7. Thus, nucleus is known as the brain of the cell.
