Solution

An element has 17 protons and 18 neutrons ,

1. Atomic Number of the element = Z

Z= Number of protons

Therefore, Atomic Number Z= 17

2. Mass number of the element = A=Z(numberofprotons)+N(numberofneutrons)

A=17+18

Hence, Mass number, A=35

So, the element with atomic number = 17and mass number = 35 is Chlorine = Cl1735.
