Let total number of mangoes in the basket = x

Given : The number of apples in the basket is 5 more than the number of mangoes in the basket. So

The number of apples in the basket = 5 + x

Also given : Total number of fruits are 49 , So

x + 5 + x = 49

2x + 5 = 49

2x = 44

x = 22

So,
Total number of mangoes in the basket = 22

And

The number of apples in the basket = 5 + 22 = 27 ( Ans )
