Meiosis is the type of division by which gametes are produced. It involves two successive nuclear divisions and only one cytokinesis to produce 4 haploid daughter cells from a diploid cell. The first division of Meiosis(I) is the phase where the number of chromosomes is reduced to half that results in 2 haploid daughter cells.
