Open in App
Solution

Given:–––––––
A coin is flipped and a dice is rolled

Need to Find:––––––––––––––––
Total number of possible outcomes

Sample space for flipping a coin ={H,T}
Number of possible outcomes for flipping a coin =2

Sample space for rolling a die ={1,2,3,4,5,6}
Number of possible outcomes for rolling a die =6

Total number of possible outcomes for flipping a coin and rolling a die =2×6=12

12 Possible Outcomes are as Follows:––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

For a head face on coin, we can get 6 possibilities on die as {H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6}.
Similarly, for a tail face on coin, we will have another 6 possibilities as {T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6}.

Total possible outcomes ={H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6} = Sample space for flipping a coin and rolling a die
